FLOURISHING
21 SEPTEMBER
2023
to flourish
celebrating living and flourishing together

18 - 29 September
During the September school holidays, the Forest Hill Community Chase Community Space will be beautifully transformed into an engaging art gallery taking us on an exploration of what it means to flourish - as individuals and as a community.
We invite 10 established or emerging artists to submit a piece of work to be exhibited in our pop up gallery at Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre and in our digital gallery.
People just starting out and creative folk who would like to dabble are invited to submit work to be displayed alongside one another in our virtual gallery and on the community wall. We will be selecting a total of 25 artworks on a first come, first serve basis.

Performing artists may submit work in video format via youtube to be included in our virtual gallery. There will be opportunity for intimate performances throughout the two week exhibition period. Please contact us to express your interest.
Writers of all genres will have the opportunity to include their work in our virtual reading room as well as provide physical copies for our reading nooks in the Community Space.

Additionally, the exhibition will include a collaborative community artwork and a series of workshops and art making activities will be offered throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Together we will delve into the experience of flourish and uncover the moments of connection that create flourishing and how they can be shared with others.

All ages, all mediums, all abilities
to flourish will have impact far beyond that of the exhibition: Artwork will be sold via a silent auction with 40% of funds raised going directly to LifeCare's family violence recovery programs and 35% going directly to you, the artist.
The remaining 25% will go towards financing the exhibition & administration

Together, we are exploring the idea that "to flourish" is not a destination, or some grand event or life achievement. It is a moment by moment thing and it is seldom realised alone. It is each small interaction and every little step taken. It is the time you didn’t think you could and someone stepped in and showed you different. It is feeling at the end of your tether and somebody says “I’ll help”. It is a smile given, a laugh shared, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. It is that little thing that makes the day feel like life is worth living and gets us up again tomorrow. To flourish is a celebration of our strengths and talents but also of the power of love, friendship and community in bringing them to fruition.
