Van Gogh Tiled Artwork

a collaborative community art project

Van Gogh

Our Finding Flourish team are passionate about creating art that everyone can take part in. We’ve created a unique concept that allows everyone to contribute to a collaborative work of art. We take two of Van Gogh’s most well-known paintings and divide them into individual tiles. You can choose a tile and colour or decorate it in any way you like. When all the tiles are collated, the artwork is complete and a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece of art is created.

Our production of Flourishing explores how each of us can have a positive impact on the lives of others. Through the character of Vincent van Gogh, we reflect upon how the world would never have had Van Gogh, Da Vinci, or any other great artist, if it weren't for the people who believed in them, supported them, and helped them become who they were. Each tile of our artwork represents how each and every one of us has a unique part to play in the life of someone else.

COMMUNITY STICKY NOTE MURALS

“I am only one, but still I am one.I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

Helen Keller

As part of Flourishing, we explore the inspiring story of Anne Sullivan, the teacher and mentor to Helen Keller and how the relentless work, dedication, and guidance of one young woman brought the world the magnificence of another.

“I am ONE” celebrates the power that every person has to make a difference in the life of another. We are creating a series of giant murals with sticky notes that invite individuals to write down one thing they can do to make a difference in someone’s life. The murals will be a visual representation of a community that celebrates and encourages one another to take action in our own lives and in the lives of others.

Shine a Light

hope in the darkness for those who struggle with mental health

laterns

Through the story of Florence Nightingale, Flourishing celebrates the power of community and the importance of caring for one another.

On World Mental Health Day, October 10th, we will host a Home-Made Lantern Festival in our neighborhood, inspired by Florence Nightingale's renowned innovations in nursing. Her compassion and care for her patients was so great that she was named the 'Lady with the Lamp', not for her wound care, but for her attention to her patients' mental wellbeing. Our festival will be an opportunity for all of us to be 'the person with the lamp', and to radiate light and love towards others.

We invite you to follow our simple and fun lantern making instructions or go rogue and create your own. Smile.  We will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create beautiful, glowing lanterns that will light up our neighbourhood. A fun family project, a way to bring your community together, or an activity for your school that opens conversation and reduces stigma around mental health.  Join us and let your creativity and compassion shine.

Don't want to be alone? We have a number of in person lantern making locations where you can create with others:
